Douglas G. McClure
Douglas G. McClure has over 20 years of experience in environmental and real estate law, and has been with Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick since 1991.
Mr. McClure represents and counsels clients in all types of environmental matters, including:
- Brownfield development and financing, liability protection, environmental financial incentives, wetland permitting and mitigation, cleanups and investigations, Superfund and RCRA sites, storage tank closures, enforcement actions;
- Environmental due diligence, including Phase I Assessments and Baseline Environmental Assessments;
- Due Care compliance, regulatory compliance audits, ISO 14001 certification;
- Negotiating environmental agreements, negotiating with U.S. EPA and MDEQ on enforcement and compliance matters, and handling toxic tort claims;
- Resolving indoor air, mold and asbestos concerns, air permits, NPDES and storm water permits, hazardous waste (RCRA) permitting, and air and water permits.
Mr. McClure is the author of two annually updated environmental chapters in publications of the Institute of Continuing Legal Education: Environmental Issues, in Buying and Selling a Business in Michigan, 2d Edition; and Environmental Torts, in Torts, Michigan Law and Practice, 2d Edition. He also frequently authors articles on a variety of environmental law topics.
Mr. McClure is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Ave Maria School of Law in Ann Arbor, where he teaches Environmental Law and Policy, and is a frequent speaker on environmental topics. He recently served as Moderator of the Panel Discussion: The Dirt on Environmental Law - Opportunities and Pitfalls, for the 2007 Annual Joint Meeting of the Michigan State Bar Real Estate Law Section and International Council of Shopping Centers.
Mr. McClure is also a recognized negotiator of retail, office and restaurant transactions for shopping centers, lifestyle centers and urban locations across the United States. He is proud to serve as outside council for several regional and national companies, including Borders, Inc., the nation’s second largest bookseller, and Walden Book Company, Inc.
Mr. McClure serves on the Public Policy Committee of the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce, and has been appointed to serve on City commissions and task forces, including the City of Ann Arbor Commercial Recycling Implementation Committee, and the City of Ann Arbor Storm Water Utility Task Force. Attorney McClure is also an active member of the environmental and real estate bar, and is a past Chair of the Environmental and Real Estate Law Section of the Washtenaw County Bar Association.
Mr. McClure is admitted to practice law in Illinois and in Michigan, and has been an attorney with Conlin, McKenney and Philbrick since 1991.
