Erik Duenas

Erik Duenas is a Shareholder at Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, P.C., where he focuses on civil litigation defense. Erik has successfully represented corporate and private clients at trial in courts throughout Michigan and currently serves as defense counsel for major insurance carriers in coverage disputes, fraud investigations, and insurance defense matters.   Mr. Duenas is regularly appointed as a Mediator to assist clients to resolve ongoing disputes in first and third party No Fault litigation and personal injury claims

The Carrier’s Perspective

Before joining CMP Law, Erik served as the managing attorney for Citizens Insurance Company, where he supervised litigated cases statewide and sat on the company’s quality control team, auditing litigation files across the country. That in-house perspective shapes how he defends cases today. He understands how carriers evaluate claims, manage reserves, and measure outside counsel performance, and he brings that knowledge to every stage of a dispute, from pre-suit investigation and examinations under oath through trial and appeal.

Erik’s civil defense caseload covers first-party no-fault PIP disputes, automobile negligence, uninsured and underinsured motorist, insurance fraud, SIU matters, MAIPF claims, premises liability, dog bite, product liability, and construction accidents with related contractual claims. He also maintains an active alternative dispute resolution practice accepting appointments as Arbitrator and Mediator. Mr. Duenas’ extensive litigation experience has given clients confidence in him to act as a Mediator in a wide variety of complex disputes. He has acted as a Special Mediator directly appointed by courts. At CMP Law, Erik’s trial and ADR work aligns with the firm’s insurance defense litigation and general civil litigation practices.
