From the Crisis Center to the Courtroom

Arminia Duenas is a Shareholder at Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, P.C., where she focuses on family law and civil litigation defense. Arminia’s path into family law started at the ground level. After earning her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University in 2003, she joined the Women’s Justice Center as Director of Legal Services, handling domestic violence cases in family law matters and building the organization’s first pro se family law program from scratch.

That work earned her the 2006 Wayne County award for Outstanding Commitment to Ending Domestic Violence in the Wayne County Community. The experience left a lasting mark on her practice. Arminia understands what is at stake for clients going through divorce, custody disputes, and protective proceedings because she spent years working directly with people in crisis. She brings that same intensity to every family law case at CMP Law, whether the matter involves property division, spousal support, or prenuptial agreements.

Trial Experience That Serves Family Law Clients

Arminia’s practice also extends into insurance defense and civil litigation. Before joining the firm, she served as the managing defense trial attorney for Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company, where she developed the company’s first in-house legal department and managed active litigation files. That trial experience reinforces her family law work. Clients facing contested divorces or custody disputes benefit from an attorney who has spent years in the courtroom and understands how to prepare a case for trial, even when the goal is settlement. When family law matters involve broader civil issues, Arminia coordinates with the firm’s general civil litigation and insurance defense litigation teams.
