Cody D. Black

Cody D. Black is an Associate at Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, P.C., where he focuses on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and disability planning. Born and raised in Jackson, Michigan, Cody helps individuals and families in the Ann Arbor area structure plans that address incapacity, protect assets, and ensure an orderly transfer of wealth to the next generation. His work spans wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and guardianship matters for clients at every stage of life.

Before joining CMP Law, Cody served as a Notes Editor on the Elder Law Journal at the University of Illinois College of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 2018. That academic grounding in elder law and estate issues carries directly into his daily practice. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, with a major in Law and Economics and a minor in Business Information Systems. The business education gives Cody a working fluency in financial structures and organizational planning that complements his legal training.

Cody is admitted to practice in both Michigan and Illinois. He is a member of the Washtenaw County Bar Association and the State Bar Associations of both states. He previously served as a Trustee on the Board of Trustees for the William and Janet Strickler Nonprofit Center in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
