Erica R. Neff

Erica R. Neff is a Shareholder at Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, P.C., where she concentrates on civil defense, insurance coverage, and commercial liability. A native of Montana, Erica has devoted her career to defending insurers, corporations, and individuals in disputes involving insurance disputes, bad faith claims, unfair trade practice claims, products liability, premises liability, construction defects, personal injury, property damage, and workers’ compensation. She has tried multiple cases to verdict in both bench and jury trials, and her appellate work has produced published opinions at the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court level.

National Perspective, Local Practice

Erica practiced in New Mexico for twelve years before joining CMP Law, first as an associate for a large multi-practice firm, then at a highly respected boutique civil defense firm, where she rose to partner. That experience gave her a national perspective on insurance defense strategy. She continues to represent New Mexico clients from Michigan while also serving as counsel for major Michigan insurers and corporations across the state. Her experience with litigation and clients across multiple jurisdictions and at firms both large and small speaks to the range of her skills: she understands both the entrepreneurial demands of practice management and the collaborative structure of a larger litigation team.

Editorial and Professional Leadership

Beyond the courtroom, Erica has contributed to the defense bar through sustained editorial and professional leadership. She served on the Editorial Board of Defense News (the quarterly publication of the New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association) from 2012 to 2020 and held the role of Co-Editor-in-Chief from 2014 to 2018. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Albuquerque Bar Association from 2013 until her move to Michigan in 2022. At CMP Law, she mentors associates and staff and sits on the Management Committee. Outside of the office, she volunteers with the Parent Teacher Organization of her children’s school and participates in charity drives. Her professional and personal commitments reflect the firm’s culture of collaboration, service, and dedication to both clients and community.
