Robert M. O’Reilly

Robert M. O’Reilly is a shareholder with Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick, P.C. whose practice focuses on estate planning, wealth transfer planning, and trust and estate administration.

Robert advises individuals and families at all stages of life, from young families establishing their first estate plan to individuals preparing for retirement and high-net-worth families with complex and multigenerational planning needs. His practice includes the design and implementation of revocable and irrevocable trusts, estate and gift tax planning, business succession planning, charitable planning, and other strategies designed to preserve and transfer wealth efficiently.

Robert also regularly represents trustees, personal representatives, and other fiduciaries in the administration of trusts and estates. He advises fiduciaries regarding their legal duties, trust interpretation, distributions, tax reporting and compliance, beneficiary matters, and the practical issues that arise throughout the administration process.

His approach to estate planning and administration is practical and tax-informed, with an emphasis on clear drafting, thoughtful risk management, and coordination with clients’ CPAs, financial advisors, and other professionals.

In addition to his legal practice, Robert serves as Treasurer of Conlin, McKenney & Philbrick and participates in the management and strategic planning of the firm. He is also active in the community through nonprofit board service, currently serving as Treasurer of the Washtenaw Area Council for Children and Secretary of the Michigan Nonprofit Housing Corporation.

A lifelong Ann Arbor resident, Robert received his B.A. in Social Anthropology from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. While in law school, he served as an Associate Editor of the Wayne Law Review and as a Student Attorney with the Free Legal Aid Clinic.
