About the Firm

A Place Where Attorneys Stay

Attorneys at CMP tend to stay. Some have practiced here for decades. That kind of retention does not happen by accident; it reflects a culture where the work is interesting, the colleagues are good, and Ann Arbor itself is a genuine quality-of-life advantage.

The firm handles complex, multi-disciplinary matters that give attorneys real breadth. An estate planning associate works alongside business attorneys and real estate counsel. An insurance defense litigator draws on colleagues in municipal law. The depth of the firm’s practice areas means there is almost always someone in the next office who has seen the issue before.

We are not a stepping-stone firm. If you are looking for a place to build something durable, this is worth a conversation.

What to Expect

Why People Build Their Careers at CMP

Substantive Work from Day One

Attorneys and staff alike take on real responsibility from the start. The work matters, the client contact is direct, and senior mentorship is built into how the firm operates.

A Genuinely Collegial Culture

Practice groups are close-knit by design. Attorneys collaborate across disciplines on complex matters. Asking a colleague for help is the norm here, not the exception.

Rooted in Southeast Michigan

CMP has practiced from Ann Arbor for nearly nine decades. For people who want lasting relationships with their work, their colleagues, and their community, that kind of stability matters. Remote arrangements are available where the role allows.

Reasonable Expectations

CMP maintains expectations that support professional growth without sacrificing life outside the office. Long tenures here are common, and telling.
